Building Country Relationships — Colombia

HomeRoots has partnered with ProColombia, an organization promoting export relationships with the country of Colombia, and on June 2, 2022, we were honored to be their guests at a star-studded event at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Along with the President of Colombia, Ivan Duque, US Senators, Ambassadors from Latin and South America, and leaders from the private sector, we celebrated 200 years of bipartisan and bicameral partnership and collaboration between Colombia and the United States. Colombia is a strategic partner in trade and both the US and Colombia are the two oldest democracies in North and South America. The celebration championed this special country relationship through culture with a lively cocktail gathering followed by a spectacular show.

HomeRoots seeks out unique furniture and decor products from all over the world, and the work of ProColombia makes product sourcing much easier. With their help, we have had fruitful meetings with manufacturers of furniture and décor. We are so grateful for their introductions and for the meetings and events they facilitate in order to get to know these manufacturers. A win-win for both Countries.

Gil Bar-Lev, CEO of HomeRoots, and Kendall Egan, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Vendor Management attended the event.

We were delighted to meet Claudia Candela, ProColumbia Trade Director for the US Market, and thank Andres Velasquez Uribe, our Trade Representative for connecting us at this event.

President Ivan Duque addressed the enthusiastic crowd.

Musical guests covered multiple genres from folk to opera, to jazz, to songs from the movie Encanto, ending with Piso 21, a crowd favorite.

Patti Labelle gave a roof-raising rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

And the grand finale amped up the crowd to leave with smiles on their faces!

All of us at HomeRoots are excited to continue building a relationship with Colombian manufacturers of furniture and décor. Thank you again to our partner, ProColumbia, for the celebration.
